Who is in Charge Here?

When a human is walking a lot of dogs at one time, you get a lot of comments.  Such as “Who is walking who?”  We know EXACTLY who is walking who.  Want proof?

Hu-dad - "Ok, Natasha, we have walked down the beach far enough. It is time to turn around and walk back."

Oh yeah, mister? Let's grab hold of this leash.

Sometimes you have to communicate with a firm tug on the leash.

But just remain firm or the human will think he is in control.

And it is difficult to retrain the human once you have allowed bad habits to form.

Any question about who is in charge?

I so empathize! It is also good to throw in a few really unreasonable commands every now and then so that you can let the human “win.” That way they think they they are making progress…and they are really really good for a while.

Um, no, I was never in doubt about who was in charge.

  5. The OP Pack on January 5, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Never a doubt, whatever the Queen says is right!!! We get that same question all the time too. In our case it is surprisingly usually Phantom who is in charge:)

LOL. Or is it the humans letting you think you are in charge?

    Thanks for the smile!

  12. HoundDogMom on January 5, 2011 at 1:50 pm

We always let them think they are in charge, but we all know better. You should see our human be in charge of us when a rabbit comes out from absolutely NOWHERE. Hee Hee…The HoundDogs

  13. Elyse and Riley on January 5, 2011 at 12:01 pm

When Riley sees a squirrel on a walk…we know who’s in charge…Riley! She’ll try to dart off after it and practically drag me down the street while I’m desperately trying to get her into heel position or even just loose leash position. She gets a little distracted…!

We all know Queen Natasha is in charge of everything! I love those pictures of her, though, especially that bug eyed one!

Thanks Natasha for clarifying this for all the humans out there that “think” they are in control!! You are right that re-training a human is difficult!!

We never had any doubt, but the Herd’s induction into HULA should clarify it for anyone who has questions.

I knew the answer before even reading the post! But, the photos prove it! She rules with an iron paw!

Persistence is a very good trait in a leader. Keep up the good work, Natasha!

  20. The heartbeats on January 5, 2011 at 8:15 am

Walking 2 GSD’s and a Boxer gets that question as well. And frankly, the implication is correct. I have no idea where I am going or what I am doing. I am totally fine with this because I have 1 controlling GSDs to keep the situation completely under control, 1 GSD for protection and the Boxer for entertainment. I just have to keep the leashes untangled…

  23. Pepsi on January 5, 2011 at 3:05 am

Hoomans THINK they’re in charge, but well, they have no idea we’re just letting them think that.

I never questioned it for a minute.

I like to pretend I’m in charge.
