Ruby Tuesday, Skiing and Howling

Nope, not up to anything. Just resting my chin here. Why do you ask?

Our neighbors and friends – Cataloochee Ski

Congratulations to our neighbors, Cataloochee Ski, for once again being one of the first ski resorts in the nation to open.  With 16 lighted slopes, awesome snowmaking capabilities and 49 years of history, they added to the natural snowfall this past week and were one of only twelve ski resorts in the entire nation that were open.  (Plus, they keep our road off the mountain open – a HUGE deal).

Emma Rose and the Duchess asked if we had a video of The Herd singing.  Why, yes, of course we do.  Here are two of our favorites.  The first is a video filmed a couple of years ago (before Qannik and Cheoah joined our family) showing off the lead singing skills of Kiska.

The second one we shared not long ago and it highlights Miss Cheoah – the Cheesewhiz.

Even when we posted the reference to Mr. Bill yesterday, we knew we were dating ourselves.  Sure enough, Amy and Layla responded to our post yesterday, “I don’t get the Mr. Bill reference – I think it was before I was born.”

Thanks.  We always like to keep the hu-dad humble.  But that made us Google and find out that there is an official Mr. Bill website.  Isn’t the internet wonderful?

This is a comment starting with Ruby Tuesday, Skiing and Howling and ending with No Singing at the Campground. I love everything you guys do, just everything and every dog. You are rare characters, with a funny hu-dad and I’m gonna just love you forever.

    Kisses,

I couldn’t help but sing along as mom was watching the vidoes! Have you all thought of recording a CD (mom almost typed album but figured she would then be in the Mr. Bill category with your hu-dad)!

  6. Sagira on November 9, 2010 at 5:35 pm

You guys sing the most beautiful songs! 🙂

I am so happy you posted that chin photo. I lay my chin on things all the time and mom thinks it is the cutest thing ever. Must be the Sibe part of me.

I loved the Mr. Bill comparison. It cracked my up almost as much as seeing Miss Kiska peeing so high!!!
    Howls & hugs,

Hee! Hee! Love the “resting chin” picture!

Hey – my human has a question for your Hu-Dad – she was wondering if he has changed hosts yet? Did it help? Coz some people seem to be STILL having trouble with my blog and Hsin-Yi is so gutted coz she really thought she’d fixed it. But we don’t think it’s the template now coz we’re using a really simple WP one…so we’re wondering if it is OUR host that’s the problem? Anyway, so Hsin-Yi was wondering whether you sorted your problems?

    Slobbers,
    Honey the Great Dane

Ruby is the picture of innocence there.

  10. The OP Pack on November 9, 2010 at 1:54 pm

We saw these before and just like before, we sang along again. Too bad the Momster didn’t have the flashy beast handy.

Our Mom is way older than the hu-Dad, but she is so dumb she doesn’t know Mr. Bill either:)

I was TRYING to nap and rest up fur my big adventures and Mom played the videos –

    Imagine that!

I wonder if she’ll keep playing them and hoping I’ll eventually learn to woo like that – my singing is pretty limited – save fur the lovely Yorkie yaps I do when I remind Mom dinner is due soon!

Oh how the door pane looks like The Xterra 😉

Reminds me of the time I got a blank look from a young coworker after making a “WKRP in Cincinnati” reference …

Ummmmm, I totally got the Mr. Bill thing. I didn’t think about the fact that I got it! Dang!!!!

  17. Amy / Layla the Malamute on November 9, 2010 at 10:11 am

    I love Kiska’s lead singing!

“Is there so much media nowadays that younger people can’t/won’t/don’t keep up with older stuff?”

That’s kind of insulting. I “keep up with” older stuff more than any other person my age, or even older. Classic rock and oldies music are all that I listen to. I haven’t even heard of some of the newer types of music because it’s not real music. I prefer “older” movies, TV shows, documentaries, etc. I’m just not a fan of SNL, whether it’s from the past or the present. I’m not big on skits. That’s all.

  18. CAROLYN on November 9, 2010 at 9:17 am

I need to film Shelby sometime. Her howl and grumbling is so DEEP. We call her Foghorn (and Table–she is so flat on top).

  19. KB on November 9, 2010 at 9:15 am

Those singing videos are hilarious and wonderful. R isn’t here right now but I believe that he will join the song if he hears it. I’ll try to have a camera ready to record him when I play it for him later!

K responded by jumping to her feet and staring at my computer. She doesn’t jump to her feet for just anything right now so that’s a big response.

  20. Kari on November 9, 2010 at 9:14 am

The pups have some beautiful voices

I think Morgan just answered the Call of the Wild here! I wish I’d had the camera handy! She’s completely in awe of the singing talents of The Herd!

Laughing pretty hard at the Mr. Bill thing!

  23. priscilla on November 9, 2010 at 7:07 am

A very lovely quartet! We enjoyed the HERD music a lot that Eva ran over to have a look and she even tried to join in, LOL!!!

  24. Pamela on November 9, 2010 at 6:24 am

Nope, Honey is not a howler. She’s interested in watching dog videos but not in joining in.

And I loved the Mr. Bill reference. Is there so much media nowadays that younger people can’t/won’t/don’t keep up with older stuff?

Wally and the Beav and “Say Goodnight, Gracie” are before my time but I know about them.

You’ve done your part to bring a little bit of low culture to Layla and Amy and the rest of your young readers.

  25. Wild Dingo on November 9, 2010 at 4:40 am

Ok, first off: Kodi is soooo wittle! and he’s like WTF? Am I supposed to howel and sing along or will I get in trouble? I didn’t know my new girlfriend had such great vocals!

Secondly, while i was watching the vids, the second one in particular, Loki howelled right along and i shot the video. the battery is charging. i’ll post it tomorrow. his singing is on the weak side because he’s not certain how close the singers are and if he should go along… but it was darn cute the way he did!

Finally: um ya, we know Mr. Bill. and that snowman was so crying OH NO MR BILL!

  26. Piappies World on November 9, 2010 at 2:55 am

Enjoyed watching the videos. The Herd can really sing! We also stumbled upon the exercise video in YouTube and we also love it!
