I know from following so many blogs out there that many of you are active – some, like Phyll at Khyra’s Korner, amazingly active – in helping to change animals lives. Each person may think their activities mean little, but collectively, we make a huge difference in the lives of our furry friends.
Be the Change for Animals is an interesting concept where bloggers are challenged to take a post and explain what they are doing to help animals – and to inspire others to get involved.
Regular readers know that The Herd is passionate about rescue, as all of The Herd and The Herd Annex are rescued dogs (except Natasha). We are, in particular, passionate about the excellent work done by our local all-breed rescue, Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, who last year saved over 2000 dogs and cats from euthanasia. Think about that – 6 dogs and cats EVERY DAY of the year saved by this organization. Please check out the Walking with The Herd Contest and help Sarge’s save more homeless dogs and cats.
And the contest is a great example. A simple contest and several of you have already mentioned it on your blogs providing links back to the contest page. That is the whole point of “Be the Change for Animals” – 1 day, once a quarter, set aside for bloggers to talk about their passion for changing animals lives and providing others a chance to help in that cause. Be the Change is new, so no telling where it will go. But we think the idea is great.
So our passion is Sarge’s and promoting our contest. What is your passion? Create your post, join the link, and let us know.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.

Natasha looks pretty dreamy herself 🙂 Terrific causes and your header picture is beautiful. Found you on Blog for Change list. I’m glad I did.

Such a pawesome thing you guys are doing.:)
Love,

I love seeing all of the participation! With each of our small steps, we not only collectively make a change but also influence others to do the same! 🙂
That’s a very cool idea.
You’ve got me thinking hard about how I can help bring about change. That’s a good thing – thank you.
My darn printer isn’t working to print out the form for Sarge. Maybe I can just hand print my own form if we don’t figure out how to fix it VERY soon!
I think that there’s another way that you can “be a change for animals” and that’s by encouraging people, by example, to give the dogs that they already have in their homes good lives. You and the herd are a good example of a large pack who has figured out how to give the dogs an interesting and fun life rather than simply “putting them out in the yard” for their entire lives. I see that FAR too often, and I wish that I could inspire people to train their dogs so that their dogs can participate more fully in life.
I couldn’t agree with you more, every little bit helps and everyone helps in their own way. 🙂
So many opportunities to do some good, so many in need – this Blog the Change is an awesome idea.

Thanks for taking part in Blog the Change!
I love that your Thundering Herd is comprised of rescues (or so very nearly all). I’ve been a fan of your site since the Saturday Blog Hop started. It’s so nice to see you on this list too.

PS: If we can help with Sarge’s cause by hosting it on our site for a week, let us know! You’ll find our guidelines here: http://btc4animals.com/submissions/

PS Your dogs are absolutely stunning.
I’ve visited your blog several times, your crew is beautiful! I would follow if I could, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to do so. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello as a fellow participant in Blog the Change!
Thanks for sharing your beauties!
What a great organization to promote. And you’re absolutely right – the collective efforts add up to big, huge differences being made in the lives of animals!
This is my first time visiting here as a result of Blog the Change day. Your herd is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing about Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation. I’m going to go check out that contest now!

You’re so right, and there are so many different ways to help and make a difference, even if you don’t have money to help the cause. There are so many people with good ideas, they just need to be shared!
Great idea, Herd!
Lots of peoples think that only big donations help but its not so. If everyone gives $5 or 10, it adds up to big money, or even playing the trivia game where kibble is given for each player counts up bigtime.
What me and my Mom do is small, but if every single one of us did it, it would get big. So think about that.
Kisses,
Stella
Hey there Herd…

That is a super idea! Our four-Pack are all adopted too as were their brothers and sisters across the bridge (except for the late Chloe the Sheltie). I agree with Natasha, I wish it could be a much better world for these sweet souls who only want to please. I much prefer my animals to people most days, I don’t know who adopted who!! Best regards to all of you xoxo
