Qannik – The Smart Dog

Ok, ok, we made a little fun of Qannik yesterday.  But here is the whole story.  Qannik used to be over eager to get into the Jeep and so he was taught (yes, sibes actually can learn something) to wait until being invited into the Jeep.  And, yes, we drop his leash because he will really sit still until we ask him to get into the Jeep.

How is this, Bricey? I can actually sit AND stay on command.

And leap into the Jeep after being invited (though the hu-dad needs some lessons on framing a picture)

And then wait until my seat belt is connected.

By the way, you will never see a picture of Natasha with the leash on the ground.  As Golden Boy Luke says, just saying.

What a good boy you are Qannik! Learning something like that can come in handy and it makes the humans trust you more. Sometimes gets you more treats as well!!! Our tricks do! The CCC

Oh Quannik – I think it’s a big myth that Sibes can’t be taught anything! As you just showed!! 🙂 Great car manners!

What’s wrong with the framing? Are you saying you WEREN’T going for a shot of those mighty tocks?

  4. Kari on April 3, 2010 at 11:47 am

the waiting skill is very very hard to learn!

Phantom and Thunder have a pretty good sit and stay, but Mom isn’t so sure it would work for a ride in the car without a lot more training. And Ciara, well, she has the sit down perfectly but the stay has a long way to go yet.

Good job, Qannik. Best to wait and get all the pushing and shoving out of the way before it is your turn.

That is very impressive! Mom said I’m like Natasha, you will never see me with the leash on the ground. 😛

Ok…we are getting a new dog in a few years…was thinking a Sibe, but after reading all your blogs I’m not so sure now. LOL Might be to smart for us. 🙂

You are so good Qannik. Mom is trying to get the Red’s to wait until her and Dad go outside. Louie is doing well with the stay hand signal but that Pest, well she needs a little more training…

Qannik is so cute! Of course you can teach Huskies things.

As for Layla, she’s only off leash in class or in the yard. One of the neighbors has three little Bichon-mix-things, and they’re smaller than some of her toys. I think the impulse to eat them is way more powerful than any wait command that she knows.

Yay Qannik! Such a good boy. Maybe you can fly out here and teach some of your skills to my pup.

Qannik is vindicated! I felt a little bad for him yesterday!

Qannik the good dog. Key word: seat belt. Of course the sit-stay is perfect too. NaBloMo, huh? I was happy to see you. I was lonely in there. You need to remember to upload every day 🙂

Qannik is a good boy. I think this proves that boys are better than girls. Although in my house, my mom would probably say that the girl is better trained than the boy, but I’m sure he means Wilbur, right?

Wow Q we are impressed…we got the “sit” down but the “stay”….we don’t do that one well at all.
TGIF…bet you got alot of hiking plans for this weekend since it is going to be gorgeous!!!

I knew he was the smart one! He always looks so happy. I still love seeing pictures of him!

*snicker* What did the beast in your woods turn out to be? I think you made Mr. Taleteller feel better this morning!

  20. KB on April 2, 2010 at 8:20 am

Ha! I thought that we might be seeing evidence that Quannik was the smartest in the Herd. And, you can tell the Queen that I said that!

What a good dog Quannik is, and so handsome!

  21. Thor and Marco Polo on April 2, 2010 at 7:46 am

    WOO WOO Quannik,
Of course the White Dogs are the smartest! Don’t let anyone tell you anything different. I always sit patiently while Mom gets Marco Polo inside his crate because he jumps up and smashes into the door before Mom opens it so he always goes first. I sit patiently and beautifully because White Dogs are the most beautiful, Just Quannik! Happy Easter! Thor and sometimes Marco Polo

Well, lemme just say, if QNTE was MY dawg, i would NEVFUR leash her. they gotta learn the hard way where their bread is buttered. TOUGH love is what i say. 😉

Quannik is very smart and very polite. Just like a Snowflake!

  23. Togo the Dog on April 2, 2010 at 2:49 am

We only learned sit, after all this while. And we taught mommy to expect us to sit only if it was worth it (like, a really really nice treat). We won’t sit if there’s obviously nothing, or just a lame treat. Ha-wooo
