Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.
I have to say that it looks like the hu-Dad NEVER mows the field. But, it’s absolutely wonderful that it provides a great home for a flock of turkeys. That is very very cool! Love the photo with the little ones in it.
Those are so cool! I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen wild turkey before (well the birds, not the drink 🙂
oh wow that’s so cool! I’ve never seen them like that before!

I gather the hu-dad does not let you chase, I mean herd, the turkeys?
How neat to be able to see wild turkeys. 🙂
Those turkeys are really cool! I kept thinking there was going to be a punchline with Rusty at the end of the post. Rusty, I apologize. I can’t imagine anyone associating you with turkeys!
We often see a pair on our walks. We have never seen any little ones, maybe we need a big unmowed fiels like that one. Gobble gobble:)
Happy Sunday.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
We’ve been watching a family of ducks. Nature is truly amazing!
That’s so cool! We sometimes see turkeys by the Kansas Ocean. I wonder if it’s the same ones?
Play bows,
Zim
We just saw a mom and her babies yesterday – so, so cute. I love watching as they grow up, through that gawky stage, into an adult turkey. Nature is just amazing!
Looks like lots of lunches to me!
I have it in my mind that turkeys don’t see very well so maybe they think they ARE being reclusive!
Kisses,
Stella
Wow! That’s neat! I always thought they were pretty reclusive – I never thought they would come out in the open like that!
Sam
Wow! Home-grown turkey dinner! Does the Herd get the liver and other “internals”? Our hu-Mom wraps them in foil and cooks them for me ‘n Ice. Do you EVER get to chase those birds? That would be fun.
