Our hikes are not always on rough mountain trails. Sometimes, we simply hike the fireroads and trails that surround our house. We came upon some work being done and found a conveniently located port-a-john.
That worked out well, because sometimes you just have to go. Mind you, some of us have the ability to just go anywhere we want – any tree, blade of grass, whatever. But others of us are a little more picky and prefer some privacy.
And since he a fairly important part of our walking crew, of course we had to wait on him. We just wish he would hurry up because we have a walk to do. Wait, we think we hear the door opening now. Yes, he is coming out.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.
Oh My Sweet Rusty… You know I have a soft spot for you, so you also know that I support your shy businesses!

Rusty! You are too funny.
Most of our hikes are on fire roads too. The organizations that maintain them have little parking lots (not paved) and kiosks so you can see the map of the roads. Never seen a port-a-john though!
Hehehe!
You can tell my mom is in the portapotty when you see two dogs attached to leashes originating from inside the closed door.
She learned it from a friend in NYC who had 2 huskies; she saw him buy coffee from the local store one day. Since the dogs weren’t allowed in the store, he kept them outside, but he didn’t let go of their leashes. The cash register was by the front door, so he would let the door close on the dog’s leashes, which were attached to his left hand while he paid for his coffee with his right hand. (Then he would pick up the coffee with his right hand and use his hip to bump the door open and proceed with his walk).
Thanks for the week starting giggle, Rusty! BTW is that a tp streamer trailing from your back paw?
Laughing, laughing, laughing!!!!
On our last vacation, R and the Runner went for a long trail run. They came to a campground at just the perfect time and made a stop in the outhouse. It was still before 7AM.
I am told that R proceeded to howl the entire time that they were in the outhouse. A family had gathered outside to see who emerged when the Runner and R sheepishly came out the door. Sounds like a “Rusty” move, doesn’t it?
LOL! I was totally expecting the hu-dad to come out.
Did you have stage fright Rusty?
