Turbo, Cheese and Bacon

We are forever trying to describe the abuse that we suffer at the hands of the hu-dad, but we think this incident from Sunday morning should bring clarity to any doubters still out there.  We were camping and our morning routine is simple.  We get up, do the necessary “business” break, take a long walk, return to the RV for some time on the picket line and watch other campers go by.  While on that picket line, we get some fresh water and then, at some eternal time later, the hu-dad finally gets around to feeding us breakfast.  And the horror is that he usually checks in on Facebook, reads some blogs, and eats his own breakfast – IN FRONT OF US – before we get ours.  Can you imagine, pups?

So, Sunday morning, all was going according to plan.  Hu-dad was eating his breakfast while we could barely hold our heads up due to weakness in our starving fashion.  And then he receives a notice that our buddy, Turbo, has just posted a celebration of his 1,000th post (Congrats Turbo!).  Turbo was an unsuccessful candidate for President in the last election and is now running for Congress in the 14th District of Missouri.  His platform is simple and it is the way he ended his post on Sunday – Cheese and Bacon for all.

Some people will call this irony.  We just call it cruel.  The hu-dad posted a comment that read, “We are demanding the cheese and bacon now, though the hu-dad insists it is his and to back off.”  (Oooooh, and note the timestamp of 8:59 a.m. – well past breakfast time at Chez Herd and we were still not fed).  So why did the hu-dad post that comment?  He took this picture right after posting the comment:

Qannik can barely raise his head from hunger, but he can sure stare down the hu-dad.

Yep, the hu-dad’s breakfast while camping is an English Muffin with scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese.  In front of us.  Before we have breakfast.  While he is commenting on your blogs and reading Facebook.  But Qannik is cute and fluffy and, well, not really threatening thanks to that whole ski jacket incident.  So dad just turned his glance in another direction.

Feed me now. Or else.

Amazingly, we got fed right after this picture.

Its the same thing at our house, you guys, my Mom gets breakfast first, but I just go back to bed and get a little extra rest. When she finishes, I hear my dish being picked up, kibble added with a little grated cheese, and me and the dish hit the floor at the same time. You gotta relax a little more, take it easier, you Sibes are just so INTENSE!

    Kisses,
    Stella

Ya know, sometimes I think it’s a good thing they can’t understand what we are saying, or we all might be in time out for using those HBO words.

I think that was very cruel of your humans to do that to you.

Wow, and I thought we lived in the lawless frontier! Aren’t there rules about animal cruelty like that where you come from? I mean, aren’t bacon and cheese a basic canine right? Do you want me to start a write in campaign to your state government?

You definitely are being abused. The Hu-Dad in our house walks the girls and feeds them before he has even a cup of coffee, much less breakfast. Of course, he is one of those dreadful “morning” people so he gets the dogs up long before they are ready. They would much prefer to sleep in.

OHHHH the abuse! I bet they will come in and get you guys right out of that home. hehe

Cruel and inhumane (or is it human) punisment. We say feed the Sibes first, feed the Sibes first, fedd the Sibes first, and VOTE FOR TURBO, cheese and bacon for all the Sibes and canned spam and dry toast for the humans.

That is so not right. We get breakfast first. Every day. Good thing the Queen stepped in and set things right.

(although we do not get cheese & bacon, we do get our egg “Saturday morning scramble” – every Saturday.)

Doesn’t he realise that one hour of waiting for breakfast is 7 hours in dog time? You need to buy a watch that keeps “dog time” instead of people time, that may impress on them that time is fleeting and we need to eat treats first, then breakfast. Consider that when we get treats once a day, that is really only getting treats once a week in dog time. That is not very many treats in a year. Speed it up there hu’ms

And did you get bacon and eggs and cheese? We get stinking kibble and a dollop of plain yogurt. If Dad’s around, we get a nibble of pb on toast.

You say the Herd got fed after the picture. Did they get kibble…or bacon, eggs and cheese? If they got kibble, I think the injustice lives on!

  17. Sage on September 15, 2010 at 9:14 am

And look at the restraint you had! Hu-dad should give you a big reward next time–I think feeding you first is a good idea, don’t you think?

  18. KB on September 15, 2010 at 9:03 am

Your campsite would be an envious one for our dogs. We don’t eat fancy breakfasts when camping… but other nearby campers sometimes do. I’m fairly certain that our dogs would abandon us in an instant for a bacon-eating family. You should see the looks on their faces as they inhale the bacon aroma!

I’m glad that you all finally got to eat!

You left out the part about how he humiliated you by walking around in those socks with his sandals and shorts on, too! I feel faint and nauseous at the thought of the abuse you all have to endure! Hitch up your sled and head to Illinois, Herd!

P.S. The Hu-Dad totally missed our poke at him Monday! Ha ha ha ha!

More prove that humans are stupid. I have found that my best tactic is to take what you want when you want it. My Human’s reaction time is so slow that she makes it very easy.

    Thanks for the link!

  23. Sam on September 15, 2010 at 7:01 am

That seems so wrong! In our house, the boys eat first. Just so we can have some peace while we eat! 🙂

We hope you are having lots of fun on your trip!

If only you were bassets, you could drool great big slobbers, shake your head and get it right in the hu-dad’s breakfast!
Well he deserves it. Let us know if you guys need a food parcel sent over…….
    love and kisses
