When the humans want Landon to come inside, he subscribes to the “can’t hear what you can’t see” theory (unless it’s dinnertime).
Hypothetical situation. It’s a beautiful, sunny day, and the yard feels great. The humans call and say it’s time to come inside. You are a Siberian Husky. What do you do? Landon’s answer is to engage Siberian Selective Deafness, a creative defense that means you can’t hear what you can’t see.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?

Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.

My Siberian will look at me when I called him to come in, turn his back and sit down. If I stop calling him, after a while he will turn his head to see if I am still on the deck. If I am. he quickly looks away again. They can drive you crazy but have such wonderful personalities that you forgive them and love them for it. Landon looks so cute, demonstrating his selective hearing, that it is hard not to smile or laugh.
The selective hearing could be annoying, but also a kind of endearing husky thing. I love their independence and cat-like traits. The only one that caused anxiety were the occasional escapes and walkabouts or rather, runabouts. Huskies are just addicting.
Landon’s just a classic.
Selective hearing is soooo funny..
My dogs do the same thing. BUT our foxhound Sadie chooses to look at me when I call her and then RUN away-almost like saying-SORRY I can’t hear you. Landon does look SO cute ignoring you though!!
Landon says, “What’s that sound? “Better take cover” “It’s Bad Moon Rising!”
