How should you react when you are asked to do something you don’t want to do? In our case, we implement delay tactics.
Thanks to the eleventy-seven bazillionith tropical system of the year—we might exaggerate, but when the current storms are called Eta and Theta, it’s been a lot—we are getting rain at Chez Herd by the Sea. Hu-Dad says we need to go outside, but we don’t want to get our feety-feet wet.
We know what you’re thinking. It’s what Hu-Dad said to us. Yes, we are rough, tough sled dogs. Or, at least, distantly related to some cousins thrice removed who might actually work for a living. But we have standards! And wet feety-feet violate those standards. It’s in the Siberian Husky Union Rules.
It’s supposed to stop raining by Friday. We will just wait until then. Yeah, Hu-Dad didn’t agree with that one either. So we tried one last effort to make him forget.
Well, it works on us.

My germans shepherds are the biggest delayers. It is called selective delaying. They have a smell here and a walk there before they come to me. I used to have a beagle who would not move until I had gotten all his itches. He was great at delaying but great at getting me to slow down and appreciate the time I had with him.
