When you are 60 lbs (27kg) of Siberian Husky, there are people who say you should no longer be a lap dog. Kodiak heartily disagrees. Your human should totally be prepared for cuddle pup – no matter how big you are:

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?

Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.

I WISH my baby girls liked to cuddle. The like to be close to their humans and get scratches, but I want to them to be lap dogs from time to time.
I always read the bios of pups who’ve gone on ahead. All heart melters.

Neither of us is a lap dog – we love the ear scritchies but we like the sofa to ourselves. Dakota was the real lap baby, and she was once a 66 lb. lap pup. Enjoy it, Kodiak.

I’m a mere slip of a girl at 50lbs, and there is No Question about me being a lap dog. Just because I tend to spill over a bit on the ends doesn’t deter me in the slightest! (Heck, I bet if pressed, Mango would admit to being a lap dog on occasion – although I bet his Mom would look like a pancake once he got up! Teehee!)

What a wonderfully goofy series of photos! When I visit people with little dogs, I always realize that I’d enjoy having a dog who was truly the right size to be a lap dog… but keeping up with my bike would be a problem for a little guy like that!
Our R believes that he’s a 55 lb lap dog. He even tries to get into my lap when I’m sitting in a straight back chair. Before my surgery, we worked hard on the notion that being a lap dog is “by invitation only”. He seems to get the idea. This way, he can be a lap dog with people who want it, and in the future, he can be a lap dog with me again (when I invite him)!
Kodiak, I greatly admire your powers of stealth! I’ve used many of those tricks myself, although I’m not quite as big as you!

Woo, Kodiak, you go! My hu-mom says my furryness is one of my best qualities. She can’t go past me without petting me. Maybe now that I’m allowed on the couch sometimes, she can talk me into a good snuggle. And the cute look gets ’em every time!

What you say about dogs responding to inappropriate behavior is true. It is just so hard to convince my dad, though, that the way Marge acts around him is partly due to the way he acts around her. It can be difficult living under the same roof with both of them.. though I suppose it could be much worse, too. Marge *knock wood* has been pretty great thus far considering how fearful used to be and still is of him.
Why do you wait for an invitation Kodiak? I just stand and stare at mum until she moves and lets me sit on her lap. It doesn’t take long.
Also, my mum’s dog Maxine (a 43kg rottweiler) thought she was a lap dog. Mum could never convince her otherwise.

I wish my sibe was that kuddly. she’s not tho. Juno’s super affectionate and wags and wiggles everytime i say her name or go to her or even cuddle with her. i’ve never seen a dog that happy to be attended to. really. and as much as she LOVES being nearby, she doesn’t like to be on me, or next to me for long periods of time. I sadly think it’s probably due to her hip dysplasia. being uncomfortable in your joints probably doesn’t make one very cuddly. I cannot imagine how she’d be without it. for sure she would have been a couch jumping dog (she’s not) and likely demanding to sleep on our bed (she never did that). but she’s always so happy to see me, even if i just go to the bathroom and come out, she wags. there’s nothing like sibe love, huh?

In picture 2, who is the poor pup in the cage in the background? I think he is sad he is not on the couch to get his ears scratched!
