Queen Natasha visited a new doctor’s office yesterday. We will be exploring acupuncture for pain management, but yesterday was about exploring the office.
The receptionist offered a greeting.
In her last physical examination with our vet, we discussed Natasha’s pain management for her arthritis. Laser treatments and pharmaceuticals have produced great results so far. But, we discussed other possibilities to see what we should consider. Yesterday, we visited a specialist in pain management for animals.
This is the quietest cat I have ever met.
The exam room was quite large and comfortable. But Natasha’s favorite feature may have been the glass door. She enjoyed seeing, if not meeting, other patients.
Hey, fellow canine patient!
We discussed several alternatives and Hu-Dad learned a couple of massage techniques to do at home. Natasha will enjoy demanding massages under the pretense of medical need.
We also decided to start with acupuncture. We started with a small initial treatment and will visit next week for another round. Natasha did great with the treatment, though her favorite part was receiving a treat with each needle. Considering that the appointment made us late for dinner, the treats were welcomed.
This poor guy’s dinner was extremely late.
We will update in a later post about the effectiveness of acupuncture.

That’s what happens when human pets don’t listen to their canine overlords, they starve!
Mom sez: I have asked Ice ‘n Ebby’s doctor about canine acupuncture, and he says he’s working towards that end, but not available at the local vet clinic yet.
We are fortunate that our vet knew and referred us to a specialist practice that focuses just on pain management.
Nico received acupuncture as well as massages for his very painful arthritis. The massages were what really helped and he would go “ahhh” during them and then fall asleep. My Fluff Bug crossed the rainbow bridge 3 weeks ago and of course tears are welling up as I write this. Nico was on his last days at a high kill shelter……old, health problems…..no one wanted him, not even the family who turned him in. He didn’t have a mean bone is his body and was pure love. Thank you for rescuing so many of your furbabies. Natasha, feel better soon and give your Hu-Dad a huge sloppy kiss and furry hug. Know that you are loved very much!!
So sorry about the loss of Nico, but we are sure he appreciated the opportunity to live out his senior time in a loving family. We rescues just took a little while to find the right homes.
