What Inspires Our Blog Posts

Hu-Dad is often asked, what inspires our blog posts? After all, this is blog post number 2,025. Hu-Dad says he is surrounded by inspiration, whatever that means.

Many, many, many, many moons ago, Hu-Dad was in college and learned two really important things about writing. The first is to write about what you know. Somehow, with all of us, he continues to have things to post about.

Today’s main character—Cheoah, a/k/a Cheesewhiz. She is very well behaved and very trustworthy, except for one minor weakness. She likes to be wet. Not damp. Soaked. She will wade in rivers up to her neck. She loves to dunk her head in our water bucket. Mud puddles are not to be missed. Good thing that Cheoah means Otter in the Cherokee language.

Today’s setting—Saturday was rainy, foggy, and—most importantly to today’s post—muddy. From melting snow earlier in the week to a heavy rain at the end of the week, our yard was a perfect play ground for Cheoah.

Earlier, we said Hu-Dad learned two really important things about writing and only shared one. Here is the other. Don’t tell a reader something when you can show it. Via dialogue. Via action. Via pictures. Especially pictures . . .

come inside
Can we come inside?
can you tell
By the way, I had lots of fun this morning. Lots and lots of fun. Can you tell?
ears
And why are moaning about my ears?

Any questions about what inspires our blog posts? Was our answer as clear as mud?

LOL. You have a new dog. Mud Huskies are priceless and they don’t mind sharing their new found gooeyness either. Share the love Cheoah.
