After a long, cold and snowy January, our first day of February was unseasonably warm and sunny. We all enjoyed a beautiful spring-like day, even if we still had plenty of winter around. Nice to have spring and winter all at the same time.

With our second day of a working PO Box, Qannik continues to lead with both the number of Valentines and dollars raised for Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, but Kiska is right on his heels. Funny, that is the same way things work around the yard!
And the best news is that our dear readers have already raised $160 for Sarge’s! Helping rescue an average of 3 animals every single day (over 1100 in 2013), Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation is an amazing organization. Click that link to read all about them.
So hurry and get your Valentines in the mail to us. If you wish, enclose a check or money order to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation and mail your valentine to:
Dog’s Name
c/o The Thundering Herd
PO Box 1835
Maggie Valley, NC 28751-1835
In addition to tallying both the number of Valentines and money raised by each member of The Herd, we will select one of the Valentines and award that lucky reader the Grand Prize donated by Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery!
Thank you for your generosity so far and we look forward to how much more will be raised before we get to Valentines Day and awarding this terrific prize. After all, the real winners are the animals that Sarge’s will be able to help because of your generosity.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
Mom FINALLY got our cards in the mail today – so maybe they will make it there before Valentine’s Day! 😉 In the meantime, enjoy Sprinter! (We think Dennis is on to something!)

I wish we could say it’s unseasonably warm here. I think we need to switch places. We have Siberian weather here in Illinois right now!
Love her expression in the last one!

Our Valentine’s are on their way.
Very happy to see that Cheoah, Frankie and Typhoon have gotten Valentines. I was worried when I saw yesterday’s tally and they hadn’t gotten any. Way to go HERD!
Ice sez: awwooooo, Cheoah, just don’t get too complacent. We thought we had winter behind us here in Dawson Creek, too, but after nearly two weeks of “spring”, here we are, back into winter again. I’m sure you’ll probably get it down there again as well. Enjoy “spring” while you can.
