Flashback Friday – The Arrival of Qannik

Recently, we realized that Qannik has been with The Herd for six years, since July 14, 2007.  For those who do not know the story of the arrival of Qannik, we had stopped by Sarge and Friends, our local all-breed rescue that does such a terrific job, to drop off some supplies.  While visiting, they asked if we would stop by the local shelter and check on an all-white Siberian Husky that they were going to pick up the next week.  So, of course, we went by to check on him.  Out bounded this all-white, blue eyed, goofy boy named Snowflake (which we promptly changed to Qannik, the Inuit word for Snowflake).  As the good people of Sarge’s knew we would, we promptly adopted Qannik on the spot and took him home.

The pictures today are from our very first hike with Qannik.  Hope you enjoy them:

clean Q

Amazing how white he is when he is actually clean.

Kiska

Kiska had been with us for about a year at this point.

good place to land

Q-tip decided the The Herd was a pretty good place to land, with all the hikes.

At 5.

And we were at 5. Left to right – Rusty, Kodiak, Qannik, Natasha and Kiska.

Speaking of Sarge’s, if you are in the area, please come to downtown Waynesville on Saturday, August 3, at 10 a.m. for the Eighth Annual Downtown Dog Walk.  Imagine, Q has been with us for 7 of those 8 Downtown Dog Walks.  He would love to have you walk down Main Street with us.

I really wish I could be there for the dog walk! I also think Q is very lucky that you and he were both in the right place at the right time. 🙂

If you folks or any of your readers know of anyone in the TN/VA area who would like to adopt or foster Siberian Huskies, Marcia’s Siberian Husky Assist seems to be overrun – so many coming in to the shelters, and no room at the inn. http://www.siberianhuskyassist.com/ There are more than are listed on thier web site, if a person was interested, please, contact them and ask who to help.
