“My name is Huffle Mawson, Explorer Cat and I am an honorary husky. Welcome to the blogging world!”
With that initial comment on our blog, we met our very first blogging cat. We had just converted our original website into a new blog in 2008 and had no idea that there was this whole world of dog bloggers, much less cat bloggers, but then came the comment from Huffle and our introduction to the wonderful blog of Huffle Mawson, Explorer Cat.
In real life, there would probably have been much growling and hissing at each other, but over the blogosphere, we had made a dear and special friend – our very first cat friend and first Australian blogger friend. Â Most special, Huffle really was an honorary Husky. Â Her adventures were followed by many a Siberian Husky and we were honored to call her one of our own.
Unfortunately, so many of our original blogging friends have left us for the Rainbow Bridge and, yesterday, we received word that sweet Huffle had made her final journey. Â So, Huffle, we welcome you to where Siberian Huskies go – North of the Rainbow Bridge – but we suspect that you have sought out a very warm and sunny spot instead. Â We look forward to meeting you again some day in the future. Â Safe journeys, our feline friend.
As always, thanks to Ann Adamus for the beautiful tribute picture to Huffle. Â The first picture was lifted from Huffle’s blog, but we do not think she would mind our using it.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldnât have been much worse.
Huffle was a very good friend and will be so missed.. Run free sweet Huffle.. Hugs GJ xx
A SiberCat — how neat. Me’n Ice wish we could’ve known her, but I’m sure we’ll recognize her when we too get to the Rainbow Bridge. ‘Til then, safe journey, Huffle!
Mojo here. We had a kitty sister that looked a lot like Huffle. Her name was Noah, and she had to go over the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year. I bet she and Huffle are lounging together in that sunny spot up there, ’cause Noah liked to lay in the window when it was sunny outside.
Huffle will be sadly missed by all of us. She never hesitated to correct us if she felt we were not treating our Zkhat just as we should. She was the rarest of cats!
