On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence, announcing the colonies’ separation from Great Britain. We celebrate that event with Independence Day here in the United States. We hope that your holiday is safe, with family and friends, and festive.
One of the traditions of Independence Day is a picnic. And no picnic is complete without Watermelon. Certain Siberian Huskies, say like Dave over at the Army of Four, are known for their love of watermelon. But what about The Herd Annex?

Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.
We’ll have to try watermelon at our house! It looks like something we could really get into!

I have yet to taste watermelon but I think after seeing how much Tartok enjoyed it my human is willing to let me have a nibble.

All of my huskies I’ve had have went nuts over watermelon. They didn’t even hesitate, just munching it straight down lol.

Wooooo! Hey Tartok and Ruby – can I come over!?!? I don’t know how this happened, but we are OUT of watermelon! Isn’t that illegal or something?
Happy Independence Day! We’re going to celebrate by listening to Mom read the Declaration!

Bruce loves water melon lol
My Dad, Ice, does the same thing. If the hu-Mom or hu-Dad give him something different, he won’t eat it in front of them, he takes it into the livingroom and rolls it around on the rug a few times, checking it out from all angles, then decides whether or not he wants to eat it. Most times, he does, whether he likes it or not, just to keep ME (Ayla) from getting it.
