As strange as it might sound, one of us just discovered the glory of being a couch canine and wants to know why no one told him before.
Yes, Roscoe has lived at Chez Herd for almost six years, but he doesn’t get up on furniture. We can only imagine that his first home had one of those “no dogs on the couch” rules. We don’t have such restrictions, but nobody told Roscoe.
Several years ago, Hu-Dad finally convinced Roscoe to get on the human bed at night. He will stretch out while Hu-Dad reads before lights out, but the second the book is closed, Roscoe jumps down to his own bed in the corner of the bedroom. That’s fine, because we all get to choose where we want to sleep. No amount of coaxing, though, could convince Roscoe that other places were okay too.
Until last week. Hu-Dad was eating breakfast and realized Roscoe wasn’t in the kitchen, his usual morning hang out. After a brief search, Hu-Dad found him on the couch. Roscoe wasn’t sure he should be there, but relaxed when Hu-Dad scratched his ears and walked away.
Let’s just say Roscoe has come a long ways in a week. He’s become quite comfortable on the couch, even managing to rearrange the blankets to his liking. Way to go Roscoe. Congratulations to graduating to Couch Canine Class 1.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
Roscoe got upgraded to couch class! Good for him!
Thank you for sharing this Roscoe story. I too have been thinking of him and wondered how he was adjusting to the loss of his best friend.
Yay Roscoe! Yeti says couches are the best!!
I’ve thought of him a lot too since Typhoon went on ahead. He looks a little unsure about being on the couch but, it shouldn’t take long for him to claim the territory. What a sweetie!
It’s a wonderful life ♥️ !!!
Awww…aren’t you sweet. ♥ Enjoy all the comforts of the couch, Roscoe. You earned it.
Aawww Roscoe boy. I’m so glad you have found that the couch is a comfy place to be!!!
I am happy to see he is thriving! He has definitely been in my thoughts these last several months. I too have been curious if he has bonded more with bouncy Boom Boom.?.?
Glad you found the couch, now you can be real comfortable all day long. Enjoy!!
Love this so much! Glad he discovered the couch! Our dogs sleep where they want to at night and boy do they find some weird places!
Better late than never, Roscoe! Enjoy the couch!
Way to go Roscoe! Couches and lots of blankets are the way to nap. Does Roscoe play with Boom? I know he misses his buddy Ty
