As we continue our healing journey, we decided to make it a real journey – in our S-RV – The Siberian Recreational Vehicle.
We decided to get away from Chez Herd, load up our S-RV and take off on a camping adventure. Normally, wait until cooler weather, but we thought a little trip could do us all some good.
We are a little out of practice walking through a campground and all its distractions. Kids greeted us, dogs barked hello, squirrels raced in front of us.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
We used to camp every weekend, April through October, I do miss it. My mother kept a camper at a local campground. Families would spend camping season after camping season at this site, watching our kids grow up. My daughter made so good friends during those years. We started when she was 5 years old, and stopped when she was 14. It’s been about 10 years, but I’m glad she had the experiences. (Swimming, hiking, fishing, cooking out, going to the dance each Saturday night) There is such a calming, relaxing effect when you put modern life on hold and spend time camping.
What a wonderful way to heal everyone’s souls.
Nothing like some time away to help heal. We lost two of our german shepherds in 2017 in one month’s time so we can understand the pain. I still shed tears for dogs I lost 11 years ago. My heart is just one big pawprint for all the dogs we have loved and lost.
I hope it helps. Bless you all.
I agree with Lori. This has been a very tough month.
So glad you’re on a Healing trip. I hope you all can relax, take lots of good long walks, breathe in fresh campground air, and receive the love of so many of us who mourn with you. ❤️????????
We all hope you enjoy your trip and that the healing starts. God bless.
