A Little Fun With A Raccoon Family

Hu-Dad was out with the “boys” on an evening walk to curb their enthusiasm when we had a little fun with a raccoon family.

Would you look at that raccoon family?

Would you look at that raccoon family?

We should explain that the above photograph was NOT taken during our encounter with the raccoons.

First of all, the sun had already set and everything was entirely too dark to capture good photographs.

Secondly, and possibly more importantly, we did not react quite as calmly as the photograph above would imply.

The raccoons were hunkered down on the side of the path, well hidden in the shadows. But they bolted right in front of us. Not one or two raccoons, but an entire family.

All three of us boys were so excited to follow the raccoons that we were standing straight up on our back legs, pulling for all we were worth.

And Hu-Dad? You remember the Hu-Dad? The one that is attached to our leashes via a waist belt? He looked like a fishermen with the three biggest catches ever – at the same time. He was leaning back, both feet planted, doing his absolute best not to be drug down the trail.

So, sorry no photographs exist of the event. Hu-Dad might have been a wee bit busy.

But you should have seen the raccoons!

I have been dragged down to my knees in the snow and pulled that way by two german shepherds. I could not imagine it being any better with three dogs attached.

My 2 Fluffy bottoms have grown up with a racoon family that comes right up to our deck, and sliding doors. If I had to hold them back from their excitement, there would be a disaster! Kudos to Hu dad for literally standing his ground!
