We canines rarely exhibit our emotions freely, so our pure reactions to a pleasant surprise seem to always make humans smile.
Hu-Dad loves the picture above for several reasons.
First, Landon’s total adoration of his big brother leaps out. Landon bounces and zooms, but he is always looking to be as close as possible to his suave brother. Someday, he may even adopt his calm demeanor (but we doubt it).
Second, yes, Frankie did decide to blow coat this week. And we do mean blow coat. All of that undercoat exploded in just the last couple of days. Go look at last week’s photos or the Film Friday, and you will see it is all new. A great warning for those considering getting a Siberian Husky (or any double coated breed) for the very first time. We don’t shed. We explode.
But, finally, the best part is that neither dog realizes that Hu-Dad has taken a break and is sitting on the porch waiting for them. Why is that so cool?
The next picture reveals the sheer joy Frankie exudes when he sees his Hu-Dad.
He might have forgotten to be Mr. Suave for just a moment.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
HUMAN! You can scratch me!
And yes, he seems to have the textbook definition of blowing a coat. I have only seen that quality of a blown coat once out of all my huskies….oh the plucking fun I could have
That’s what pure love looks like. Nothing expected in return, just joy, excitement and loyalty.
Mom sez: Frankie’s look of utter adoration is about the same as the look me’n Roy get from Ebby, whether we’ve been gone for a day, or for a few minutes. Nothing like it!
We can be gone for a mere two hours and be greeted as though we’d been gone a week. What can make you feel better than the love of an animal.
A smiling husky is truly pure joy!
I try to explain the undercoat-blow to the uninitiated by saying that I regularly sweep up enough fur (especially if Eddie’s cousins have also been here) to create a whole new dog, although what I actually do is dump it out in the yard and presume the birds in the area have the best-lined nests around!
There is nothing as precious as being so happily greeting by a loving dog.
What a privilege it is to be loved… by a dog.
Lovingly, Andrea
xoxo
So well said.
Nothing more beautiful than a pup seeing their human!!
