If you talk to enough RV’ers, you quickly learn that they have varied opinions about the best campgrounds and best campground amenities. Many of the RV resorts have cable television, swimming pools, and other entertainment activities. We, however, prefer state parks because they offer hiking trails, wilderness, and camping sites more comfortable for us (and our neighbors).
All of us, however, were especially excited by the greeting committee as we set up our campsite at Big Ridge State Park. To say we were excited to say hello would be a massive understatement.
For some odd reason, Hu-dad just keeps talking aboutĀ Foghorn J. Leghorn and warns us about being a Barnyard Dawg. Yes, yes, Hu-dad is so old that we included links for our younger readers.
So we now give this campground our highest possible rating.Ā This was an amenity that we didn’t even know existed.

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldnāt have been much worse.
Mom sez: LOVE the bit about the KFC delivery! Are these “feasts on feet” free range chickens, or do they belong to someone. Or, are they, like The Herd, just “camping out” for the weekend? Hope you all enjoy, and that there are the same number of “critters” on site when you leave!
The Herd would absolutely love Key West! You’ll have to take them to visit sometime. =)
Oh my God. Now that last line I really laughed at. Not that I didn’t laugh at the other ones, but the KFC delivering was just priceless. I read this first thing this morning and I love to have a good laugh first thing in the morning. It just brightens my day. Have a great time at the park and with the chickens. Hugs and kisses for the herd.
