Broken Promises

Our winter here has been very mild. We received a couple of snow falls back in early November, but have only received dustings of snow since then. Several times, Hu-dad has told us we should wake up to some snow, but they have all been broken promises. So when he told us we should expect some snow on the ground Friday morning, we had our doubts.

standing in snow

Does this look like I am standing in snow?

And those doubts were accurate. Oh, sure, we had frozen precipitation, but the wrong kind.

ice

Our ice coated rain chains tell the whole story.

Snow, Hu-dad. We demand snow.

We have started receiving Valentine’s cards and will provide our first update on the Valentine’s Hearts for the Herd contest soon.

We will announce the winner on February 14, so your Valentine’s card must be received by February 13 in order to be eligible for our drawing. Remember to mail your Valentine’s card(s) to your favorite member of The Herd (To: Dog’s Name, c/o The Thundering Herd, PO Box 1835, Maggie Valley, NC  28751-1835). If you wish, you may also include a donation made payable to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation (who saved 1,231 dogs and cats in 2014 – over 3 animals every single day of the year – see this article for details).

You can find the profiles of each dog at these links – CheoahNatashaQannikKiskaTyphoon and Frankie.

And one lucky winner will be randomly selected from all of the Valentine’s received to win the grand prize from Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery!

Looks like hu-dad should rent a snow machine! Or borrow one from the ski resort nearby!

No snow here either! We live in the foothills and they have closed the ski resort up above us because of no snow. Cierra and Maggie are very disappointed! (We also haven’t had much rain here either In Cali. looks like we are headed into our 4th yr. of drought)

Time to hire a snow machine!
