We had a beautiful break in the weather Sunday and Hu-dad suggested squeezing in a walk.
We haven’t had any measurable snow in weeks (very strange for this time of year), but we have certainly received lots and lots of rain. Walks around our house are on dirt roads, which mean mud roads right now. But we loaded up in the Jeep and headed for the Hominy Creek River Park – where the Hominy Creek comes into the French Broad River in Asheville. They have a terrific greenway that runs along the riverbank. We often walk there in the winter month because our high elevation trails are inaccessible due to closed roads.
As we mentioned above, we haven’t really seen winter for several weeks, but it is coming back with a vengeance this week. Our high at the house Sunday was 54ÂșF (12ÂșC) (upper 60’s in Asheville), but we will not see above freezing temperatures until next weekend. In fact, lows will be below 0ÂșF (-18ÂșC) midweek – much more to our liking (though Hu-dad seems to be grumbling about it).
Happy Trails and Happy Monday!
P.S. – Thanks for all of the comments, questions and suggestions. We will be addressing those in upcoming blog posts.

Wings of Doom
December 12, 2024
A simple nightly routine with my dogs led me to face the wings of doom, a hideous creature that lurks in the shadows of my yard.
Those are awesome shots of the herd. Do you worry about them getting the “black” water from the asphalt on them? Our pups get kind of filthy from it during rainy/wet days.
Monty and Harlow
How do you keep them so clean? We’re impressed!
I’d rather have some of your weather! We have the stuff you’d all love here this week. I’m ready to hibernate.
I have a question it seems when you are taken on walks by the herd it is always the queen, Kiska and qtip in one group and Frankie, typhoon and Cheoah in the other. I’d there some reason you split them that way? I would think typhoon would be better with the queen and Kiska???
Do love all the fuzzy butts keep them coming
Zoe and Sabo
Mom sez: Wow, for six beautifully turned out Sibes, all “poofy” and white, walking in the rain, they sure are still “snowy white”. I see that, as usual, Typhoon looks a little “off centre”, leaning against Cheoah in the top photo.
