TPLO Recovery Week 3 & 6

Feels Good

Woooo – this feels good.

Time for our weekly TPLO recovery update – and the picture above says it all. Yes, that would be Queen Natasha the Evil walking without the dreaded sling. Her x-rays looked very good and she is entering the next phase of rehabilitation. We are starting with a daily short walk (about 10 minutes) which we hope to expand to twice daily walks in a few days. As the muscle begins to rebuild, those walks will gradually get a little longer. In about six weeks, we will x-ray again to see if she can begin some off-leash, but supervised, time in the yard.

So we still have lots of crate rest, but at least that is being separated by real – if short – walks.

Stretching the legs

Stretching the legs.

Cheoah also continues to do well and is soooooo looking forward to her x-rays in three weeks that will hopefully begin her time without the sling.

I wanna go for walks.

I wanna go for walks, too.

All in good time, Cheesewhiz, all in good time.

Just keep taking it slow and easy, and pretty soon you’ll be back in the yard with the rest of the Herd! As for Cheoah, your turn will come soon, just be patient!
