Recovery Week One

Natasha is giving a Recovery Week One Post-Surgery report in today’s blog post. Eleven weeks, more or less, to go.

whole week in crate

A week. A whole week spent in this crate.

short breaks

I get 5 or 6 short five-minute breaks in the yard a day,

leashed

And the Hu-dad escorts me during the entire break, so I am leashed and he uses a sling to support my body weight.

long recovery

This recovery thing is a long process.

Natasha has done amazingly well in her first week of recovery. We are working to keep the weight off of her leg, even though she is beginning to want to put weight on it. Her pain medicine was cut in half yesterday and will further reduce in a couple of days.

The biggest challenge now is convincing her to remain quiet while her body heals, but all signs point to a full recovery.

For now, we have all voted and plan to change her name to Queen Natasha the Grumpy (though, we think, the Evil includes all forms of grumpiness).

*****     *****     *****     *****     *****

September 22 is a special day for us because it happens to be the Hu-dad’s sister’s birthday. Two years ago, we might have mentioned that that was her 43rd birthday, but we absolutely, positively promised this year not to mention which birthday this is. So we will not mention it. See how good we are?

My math is not good enough to figure out how old the Hu-dad’s sister is 😉 Happy 29th Birthday to her!

It’s very tough, isn’t it Queen Natasha? I don’t blame you for being grumpy. After one of R’s surgeries, we had to put him on doggy downers to keep him sedate after the pain started to let up. Something tells me that you’ll be better behaved than he was. And, kudos to the Hu-dad for doing such a great job keeping the weight off that leg.

A Queen must keep her composure in all situations – even while suffering the indignities of post-recovery. Well done, QN! As for your discretion concerning your sister’s birthday, all I can say (speaking from experience) is “GEESH! BROTHERS!!!”

Mom ‘n Ice BOTH say: We’re SO happy you’re healing so fast. Just as long as you don’t “blow it” by pulling a “sneak-out” job on the hu-Dad. At our “advanced” age, can’t be too careful, you know! Mom (78 in November), Ice (12 on June 21), and yourself (11 on June 30)

Ah, the indignity of being confined. Look at that face in the last photo, you can tell Natasha has certainly mastered the art of the guilt trip. 🙂

To remain The Queen quiet is a challenge 🙂
And we, the eight-pack from Holland, really don’t know how to count in English, so we cannot help you with the candles at the cake for Hu-dad’s sister. Sorry.
