Valentines Hearts for The Herd Contest – Typhoon

You have probably noticed that our presenters for the Valentines Hearts for The Herd Contest have been in the order they arrived at Chez Herd. So, of course, we end our presentations with Typhoon!

Remember, the rules are simple. Mail a Valentine to your favorite member of The Herd at (make sure it ARRIVES before Valentines in order to be eligible for the drawing!):

Dog’s Name
c/o The Thundering Herd
PO Box 1835
Maggie Valley, NC  28751-1835

If you wish, enclose a contribution by including a check or money order in any amount to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation.  Sarge’s helped over 1100 animals find new homes in 2013 – yes, that is an average of 3 every single day – so your money will be going to a terrific cause.  You can click that link to find out all about Sarge’s.

We will reveal which member of The Herd receives the most Valentines AND who raises the most money for Sarge’s!

One lucky reader who mails a Valentine will be selected to win a HUGE prize from Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery!  The bakery is absolutely awesome (we are personal fans of the treats!) and we really value their support! You get a glimpse of the prize at the end of today’s post and we will tell you more about it later.

For now, let’s hear from Typhoon (and start mailing those Valentines)!

not my picture

Always the ambassador of The Herd

I came to Chez Herd just over a year ago, January 5, 2013. The Herd had lost a legend – Rusty the Rooster – and they were looking for dog who lived life as large as the Rooster did. I am doing my best to fill some mighty big paws.

I liked and responded to my name, Ty, but the humans like multi-syllable names with strong sounds for training purposes. (Hrmph – like I need training. Stop laughing.) A reader suggested Typhoon and the name instantly stuck. Something about I am a walking natural disaster. (Hey, I told you to stop laughing.)

Anyway, my antics, playfulness, and tremendous ability to scream disapproval have all contributed to my big personality.

Kitchen patrol

I have also picked up the nickname Little Prince. Something about a constant attitude that I am better than anyone. For the record, I just try to emulate the Queen who finds my attitude amusing – as long as I don’t try that attitude with her. Anyway, who said a little confidence was a bad thing? Ok, fine, who said a lot of confidence was a bad thing?

The hu-dad has also taken to calling me Munchkin. I am as tall as most all of them (except tall Kiska), but I weigh only 41 lbs (18.5 kgs). Everyone keeps telling me I will develop bigger muscles around my second birthday. That’s soon, so look out world.

nothing moves

Typhoon’s favorite RV activity is monitoring the campground from the dining room table.

I spend most of my day wrestling and hanging out with the two dogs closest to my age – Cheoah and Frankie. I also spend a lot of time buttering Natasha up and she seems flattered by it all. Hu-dad mutters something about the scariest part is that Natasha has taken me under her wing and is teaching me many things, much like Nikita did for Natasha so many years ago. I think that is cool, but hu-dad says it makes him nervous.

being supportive

Hanging out with big brother Frankie waiting on the hu-dad to finish working.

I mentioned earlier that I got my chance to come to Chez Herd because they had lost Rusty the Rooster, a dog with a huge legend. I never met Rusty, but hu-dad swears that the Rooster must be whispering things to me because I have picked up one of Rusty’s most unique traits – the behind the human walk. I’ll never tell where I learned that one.

class clown

Every Herd needs a class clown.

Anyway, I like my role as clown. It makes everyone laugh and hu-dad is always shaking my head and wondering how I do things. He must be really impressed!

So mail your Valentines to me. I can even give you a hint about the HUGE prize that someone will win – but you only have a chance to win if you mail a Valentine.

Sampling

Here I am sampling the HUGE prize that will be awarded to one of our readers courtesy of Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery.

If I had enough money to support your “Valentine’s Heart” contest, I put my money on Typhoon. Love all the Thundering-dogs, anyway, but Typhoon is my favourit……..
