Sarge’s 8th Annual Downtown Dog Walk

Long time readers know how passionate we are about our local all-breed rescue, Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation.  In 2012, they found homes for 233 cats and 394 dogs.  In addition, they transported an additional 292 animals to the Northeastern US no-kill shelters.  That is 919 dogs and cats whose lives were saved in 2012 alone – almost 3 each and every day in our little county.  Through June of 2013, adoptions were running 15% ahead of 2012.

On a more personal note, Cheoah and Qannik both came through Sarge’s as did Ruby over at The Herd Annex.

If you live anywhere near us, Saturday is a terrific day to come out and support Sarge’s (and come up and say hi to us).  Sarge’s 8th Annual Downtown Dog Walk parades right down Main Street of Waynesville.  Registration begins at 9 am at the courthouse with the parade starting at 10 a.m.   And, as we understand it, the team that raises the most money will lead the parade.  We led the parade back in 2010 and can tell you that is quite the honor.

But the most fun is seeing all of the other canines that come out for the parade.  And we mean a lot of canines.

Downtown

Lots and lots of dogs!

We hope to see you there tomorrow!
