A Little Snow – Finally

For the last several years, our first snow has fallen in late October, so we consider our first snow to be a little late this year.  Not to mention, we consider it to be a little light at just a few inches.  Oh well, at least we had some snow finally fall and are getting to play in it.  Hope you enjoy the pictures of our first snowfall of the year.

The horses seemed a little less pleased that The Herd.

And our neighbors, Cataloochee Ski, have invested over a million dollars this summer in additional snow making capabilities. Those snow guns were running hard on Friday for a possible Saturday opening.

Our favorite tree framed in the snowy field - with Cataloochee Ski just to the right of the picture.

Red Team plunging through the snow.

Cheesewhiz going deep in the snow.

Except that a deep snow dive results in a different kind of "snow nose."

Where did the summer go? It seems like just yesterday you were saying goodbye to the snow. 🙁

Please keep the snow – but don’t tell Layla I asked. I’m snowed out from last year still.

The Herd looks like they are in their element. Snow already?! I’m still waiting for summer here since we didn’t really get one this year.

We loved seeing your first snow … particularly as we may get none this winter!

    Enjoy!

    Hi Y’all,
Y’all have more snow than we do.
Y’all are at a higher elevation than we are, so here we’re lookin’ at those elevations and it hasn’t stopped snowin’ there.
It’s still snowin’ here, but mostly we’ve been gettin’ sleet. We’re only about 4000 ft.
I’ve been so busy the last couple weeks so I’m tryin’ to catch up with y’all today.
    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

Pretty photos. I glad you got a little taste of the white stuff. I’m sure more is on the way in the near future. Have fun!

your herd is beautiful. there was a husky, malamute, samoyed walk in town (brisbane, qld, australia) the other day. so many parading down the street–impressive. and, of course, some were just tarts for the hands waiting to pet them.

they’re not a common pet in this climate, so i get excited seeing them.

i enjoyed seeing your photos from this post and ones earlier. hop on.

I don’t know about snow yet, but Mom says I will!! A “snow nose” looks like a fun thing to have.

Are those horses yours? I love the field with the tree in it – very pretty!

We were supposed to get snow today too. I suspect my friends in the higher elevations have it but we’re in the flats.

Thanks for sending it vicariously our way!

Lucky Herd, you all have snow! We are eagerly anticipating it here. Great pics – funny how excited the Sibes get when it snows and how disinterested horses are, so typical! Love the “snow” nose! Enjoy your fluffy white stuff!

You guys look a lot happier about getting snow than we will be! I admit that I do enjoy the pictures of The Herd enjoying the snow, though. It looks like Rusty’s too busy enjoying it to do his infamous move yet!

  18. Khumbu on November 6, 2010 at 6:39 am

woooo at last you have snow. Enjoy. Nothing better than burying your face in the snow and like the new snow nose 🙂
