Advantages of Closed Roads

Closed roads are cool. You can walk a bridge over the highway below.

Red Team having fun, though we like Rusty's lifted front paw doing his strut

Cheoah seems less than amused at his antics.

    Good point, Rusty!

Are those like the Blue Highways I hear about, only for us dogs? I love to stray off path.

Rusty never fails to amuse us – why not strut when you can walk across a bridge like that!!! Thanks for the fun, Rusty.

Yes! One of my favorite memories is when we took Kiva on a safe, closed road and unsnapped the leash. She looked at us like, “Really?” and then she zoomed off with glee!

We had a day of having our toes bitten by the imps of fate as well…annoying, niggling things, aren’t they. Hope tomorrow is better!

Hey.. you gotta strut it when you can! Flaunt rooster boy!

I think Rusty ought to copyright it as the Maggie Valley Strut, he could give lessons, make a fortune, why, the world would be his oyster.

    Go for it Rusty!

    Kisses,
    Stella

That’s pretty cool. We have a trail here in NY that goes over an abandoned highway exchange, but, now that they’re doing work on the expressway here, they’re going to tear it down and I guess reroute the trail. I hope I get to try it with Marge before that happens.

  9. Farley on March 24, 2010 at 9:45 pm

Very nice walking when you don’t have to worry about cars. Work it Rusty!

  10. Sonic on March 24, 2010 at 9:06 pm

Nothing like a good strut to say “Hey I’m an Alpha dog!”

  11. Kari on March 24, 2010 at 7:53 pm

I think his strut is awesome!

  12. Sagira on March 24, 2010 at 7:23 pm

Wow, very cool. Cheoah doesn’t look amused at all.

  13. KB on March 24, 2010 at 5:57 pm

I think that closed roads are the best kind of roads!

    Ahhh, Rusty!

Mom drives under a bridge on her way to work that Boeing uses to tow the planes from the factory to the paint hangars and flight line. When they move a plane, they close the road. Perhaps we should apply for the airplane towing job!

It’s so funny for me to see the herd walking on city streets with traffic below. Since I’ve been reading your blog, they’ve mostly been on quiet snowy paths.

  23. Mack and Mia on March 24, 2010 at 9:52 am

Rusty you are so smoooooothhhh! I like your swagger!
I lack in the cool department. I’m more goofy and clumsy, but everyone says I am still cute!

    Wags and Woofs,
    Mack and Mia

  24. Kira The BeaWoootiful on March 24, 2010 at 9:50 am

Wooos! I know Scampi would be scared to cross over the highway and Mum would be draggin him across…
Cheoah looks more like, “silly Rusty is at it again….”

  26. Life With Dogs on March 24, 2010 at 8:28 am

When I saw the post title I pictured the herd on rollerblades. Photoshop has completely corrupted my thinking. But I’d still like to see that!

  27. Houndstooth on March 24, 2010 at 8:17 am

That looks like a fun walk! Rusty, we like seeing you strut! Keep doing your thing!

  28. Amanda and Rocco on March 24, 2010 at 6:57 am

Rusty is a dog after our own heart! He sure knows how to have a good time!

  29. Martha and Bailey on March 24, 2010 at 5:11 am

We have bridges like that in Scotland although we don’t like the sound of the traffic below!
You guys always look so business like out walking! Like you have an appointment you really need to get to.
