The Big Secret

You know Typhoon as the impish Little Prince, always into mischief.  But he has been hiding something and, today, we reveal Typhoon’s big secret.

still in Jeep
Back from another great day of hiking and every other pup is out of the Jeep and playing in Sibe Quentin.
just jump down
So all I have to do is jump down and run to the yard.
Why don't I just jump down?
So why don’t I just jump down?
seen how far?
Have you seen how far down it is?
get me out of here
Now, hu-dad, put that camera down and get me out of here.

We can’t explain it.  The same dog who is perfectly comfortable walking along the back of the couches will not, for some odd reason, jump out of the Jeep.  He waits until the hu-dad offers his arms and then leaps into those arms.

Of course, there is an alternative explanation.  As the Little Prince, he may expect chauffeur service in exiting his limousine.

I had a friend that had the opposite problem with his St. Bernard. When she was a puppy, she couldn’t jump into his Jeep so he would pick her up. When she got bigger, she still wouldn’t jump into the Jeep. He couldn’t lift her at that point so he would get her to stand up with her front paws on the back of the Jeep and then he would left up her rear end to get her in. I don’t think she had any issues with jumping out.

Does he still do that, Hu-dad?

Hard to believe this is the same Typhoon, scared and uncertain. Boy, has he turned some tables!

No matter how long ago these memories are of The Little Prince it’s always fun to read. I think Typhoon just LOVES to have Hu-Dad life him down!!!

Queenie jumps out of the truck just fine, but when I say “Load Up!”, she walks over to me and turns her back so I can pick her up and boost her in! We spoil them so.

It may be something he was taught. When we got KĂŒster, the breeder warned us not to let him jump down out of the van or off furniture until he was at least a year old or better because his bones would still be soft. Someone may have taught him to wait to get out until he was lifted out, since he’s so young!

We think this says a lot about the comfort of hu-dad’s arms.

Mom sez: How is he with jumping INTO the jeep? Could he have fallen out at some point, and is now afraid to jump down? Guess we all have SOME phobias we have to live with. Our Ayla was afraid of heights, PERIOD.

Sam didn’t like jumping out of my one truck – I had to always lift him out! He didn’t have an issue in other vehicles of the same height. Too funny!
