Rusty Remembrance – Games at Big Ridge State Park

Rusty's Strut

Rusty’s High Step

First off, thank you for all of your kind comments, emails, and messages. We really appreciate the support of all of our readers and the animal blogging community.

As we mentioned yesterday, we decided to celebrate Rusty’s life this week by sharing some of our favorite classic videos. This video is from one of our RV adventures to Big Ridge State Park in Tennessee.  This demonstrates why we loved walking with Rusty in The Herd – you just never knew what game he was going to invent.  This time, he did not target the humans – he targeted the rest of the canines.

That was so funny! Rusty obviously had quite a sense if humor! And I can tell his absence will be felt by all, human and canine.

HAHAHA! I love that video. I love how the rest of the herd pretty much ignores him. They’re all like “oh Rusty’s at it again!” hahaha. What a character.

  6. Stella on December 13, 2012 at 12:25 am

Its the character dogs we love and remember the most.
The Porties Tsar, your Kodiak and then your dear Rusty. They are one of a kind pups, who come into the world just knowing what they want to do and do it.
My Scottie Otis was another one. Though you want to maintain a bit of order, you also don’t want these funny, goofy pups to lose one iota of their individuality. So you live for the laughs! Thanks, Rusty, for a ton of them and more.

What a happy soul your Rusty was. This video gave me a good laugh at the end of a very long day @ work. As a fellow husky owner I know what joy they bring to your life. Cheers to you for celebrating his life & sharing these moments for us to see 🙂

We are so sorry for the loss of Rusty but cant help but laugh and smile at all of his antics. He was someone to strive to be more like.

We will try to walk behind our Dad on our walk in Rusty’s honor although it will not be anything close to the real thing.

Rusty was such a character! I don’t think QNTE would allow the other dogs to act like that. Keeping you and The Herd in my thoughts and prayers.

  24. Nora B. Webster on December 12, 2012 at 10:39 am

He was very funny! Still praying for your healing. So glad to spend this week celebrating his life with you all. What a great tribute.

Well, Rusty had me giggling once again. It was as if he was trying to do to Cheesewhiz what he did to whichever human was walking him! What a creative clown.

I’m so glad that you have photos and videos of Rusty’s comical exploits. Thanks for sharing.

We are thinking of you in these very hard days.

  27. Heartbeats on December 12, 2012 at 10:01 am

That was too funny. The really funny part is that the Herd is so patient as if they expect it from Rusty!!

Rusty was my favorite sibe that you guys have. He always brought happiness and smiles. May he rest in peace with the 3 pups our family lost this year. They will have a great time playing over the rainbow bridge.

Our hearts go out to you.

That was one of my favorite Rusty videos! I’m surprised that nobody told him off. You can see the mischief in his eyes. What a character!

  32. Amy@GoPetFriendly on December 12, 2012 at 7:54 am

    I just love that boy.

  33. jane on December 12, 2012 at 7:10 am

That was too funny. What a character. Poor cheesewhiz. It must have been weird walking with another dog under you lol. Hugs and kisses to the herd.

  34. Wild Dingo on December 12, 2012 at 6:47 am

WTF? Omg, the herd was very patient with that boy that day! They must have really loved him. That made me laugh and laugh!

Ya i was lookin for the vid earlier too. WordPress has done that to me in the editor mode many times. I always paste video code in html mode at last moment before save, click publish and exit. If i go back to edit it after a save or a published post with video, sometimes editing in the visual mode deletes the code for the video. WP is free…

    • D.K. Wall on December 12, 2012 at 6:54 am

I think I figured out what I did. I usually work strictly in the html mode, but I added a link to the text. I do THAT in the visual mode (I can never remember the exact code for that – sigh). I think I added that link as the very last thing and then did not retest my post.

      I know better – I just forgot.

  35. Pamela on December 12, 2012 at 6:46 am

Well I saw it and it was adorable.

So sorry you’ve lost your handsome, furry comic relief. There will never be another Rusty.

  36. mike on December 12, 2012 at 6:44 am

Thanks for sharing that was very funny. Our thoughts, prayers and husky hugs still sent yours and the herds way.

I’m not seeing the video either!

  38. Holly & Khady on December 12, 2012 at 5:46 am

Ummm, is it just my computer, or is the video missing?

    Holly

    • D.K. Wall on December 12, 2012 at 6:12 am

We swear it was there last night, but we checked and, poof, the code was gone. We added it back.

We suspect Rusty is chuckling at one of his pranks.
