We had a gorgeous day with a high of 48 F (9 C). That was a tremendous break from our weather of the past few weeks and even The Herd seemed to enjoy the weather. We took several walks during the day, but this particular walk was near sunset Saturday evening along the Blue Ridge Parkway. After walking a good ways, Cheoah decided she needed to savor snow in her own special way – the Cheoah Slide:

Horrible Hurricane Helene: Why So Bad for WNC?
October 29, 2024
Hurricane Helene was a monster storm, but the way it hit Western North Carolina couldn’t have been much worse.
Khyra likes those slides a lot too, but I didn’t know what they were called. Thank you
Twink!
We LIKEY. In fact, I think Loki likies a lottie!
He may have a new girlfriend! (If she’ll have him…)
looks to me like someone was having a good time in the sun and snow
That looks like so much fun! Excellent sliding technique!
Great demonstration! Sure picked up a few tricks there!
Thanks!
Cheers,
Maxx
48 is a very comfortable temperature, although here, we were spoiled by some temps into the 70’s last week. HOW you can handle the herd with sliding shenanigans is beyond me! I have enough difficulty keeping the leash untangled with just one. :p
That last pic really fits – perfect with pawprints winding off into nowhere.
No warmups here, and snow on the way. We finally get the winter we’ve been missing!
That’s funny. I was making Marge lay flat in the snow the other day. She didn’t mind it, but she didn’t enjoy it as much as Cheoah seems to.
Okay….that’s way too difficult for me. Cheoah, can you demo it again? maybe this time in slow-mo?
Cheoah – did you know Ciara before she got here? We caught her doing a bit of that slide in out sleet-filled yard today.
Woos, Phantom and Thunder
Well done!
Kisses,
Emma Rose
That looks really fun! I love rubbing my face in stuff, but here all I get to rub it in is my bed, my humans’ bed, and occasionally the car seat. Snow looks way more fun!
Sonic
Ok, got it! Now I just need some snow!
Mochi
We will have to include snow sliding as a demonstration sport in the next Olympics!
That looks like fun! It makes me miss the snow!
I’ll take that over The Electric Slide any day!
Aaaaaah, such bliss!
Furry good demo on the snow sliding. My brudder Danya does da same thing. I have not yet mastered da technique.
Husky kisses,
Biloxi
Cheoah is just so pretty! Is she the only member of The Herd who snow slides? I’ve heard mention of her famous snow slide before and seen pictures and videos of it, but I’ve never noticed any of the rest doing it. It’s my second favorite thing The Herd does right after the Rooster Head Butt!
Snow-sliding is SO FUN! We also try to make snow angels but for some reason they never turn out looking like the ones that the grandkids make – wonder why☺
Ooooh! That looks like SUCH fun! I’d love to try the Cheoah Slide!
Love,
Ammy
Excellent snow sliding, Cheoah! I bet you can hardly wait for summer, finding that perfect scent in the grass, and whoosh, there goes Cheoah again!
Kisses,
Stella
Yes, ’twas khwite The Moment of Zen!
I did the vertikhal version of that this week – of khourse, I khompleted it before the flashie beastie operator khould khapture it!
I hope all of woo enjoy a special Sunday!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Excellent demo! I think we need to try this out fur ourselves, whenever we finally get more snow, that is.
jack a-roo & moo too
What a great demo! Now, you need to find a hill so that Cheoah can slide down hill. When I used to backcountry telemark ski, my Lab would slide down the mountain on her belly next to me, with an occasional flip over onto her side or back. It looked like a blast!
Wow – your weather sounds divine right now. It’s 3 deg outside so I’m procrastinating by blogging! 🙂
Hmmm… You will have to show Sam that maneuver if we ever make it to the snow!
